Steve Buchanan Omaha is a practical, problem-solving professional. Although retired from full-time auto mechanics and performance diagnostics work, he still loves working on and operating mechanical vehicles.

Tenure On Mr. Mechanic

During his professional career, he also produced and hosted the hit radio show known as Mr. Mechanic. The show was Omaha's longest-running local show and aired on News Radio 1110 KFAB-AM. During the one-hour show, Buchanan answered various questions from listeners about cars, car maintenance, and car repairs.

The show began in 1988 and aired on Saturday mornings. Buchanan led the show for more than 25 years and only rarely did a question stump him. Two guest hosts, who managed Buchanan's Service Centers, and car expert Dr. Mark Grabow also sometimes appeared on the show.

Steve Buchanan is a successful entrepreneur who built a successful fuel, auto mechanic, and convenience store business from the bottom up. He is an excellent auto mechanic and diagnostician. He is also a competent pilot and boat captain.

Hobbies

Buchanan still enjoys engine diagnostics and repairs as a hobby. However, he also enjoys other mechanical transportation modes. He drives speed boats and flies airplanes. He particularly enjoys the sensation of traveling fast, whether in the water or the air. He also enjoys living beachside.

Steve Buchanan Omaha spent most of his life in the Midwest. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa, but he made his home in Omaha for several years.

In retirement, he resides in South Florida, where he enjoys spending his time with family and friends.

Philanthropic Efforts

Throughout his life, Buchanan has been involved in many community organizations, especially those that provide health care services. While in Omaha, he gave his time and support to the local Children's Hospital. The hospital provides primary, specialty, urgent, and virtual care from several locations in Greater Omaha. Buchanan also supported the local Omaha branch of the Nebraska Humane Society, which protects animals by providing education and sanctuary.

In Florida, he supports the Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic, which has been providing care to patients from around the world for more than 100 years. The not-for-profit health system has several campuses, including a medical college, clinics, and a hospital. One of its campuses is in Jacksonville, Fl.
